Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A (360W) Non-Isolated 30A DC-DC charger
Low-quality alternators with poor voltage regulation can cause the BMS to disconnect on LiFePO4 batteries. If the BMS disconnects, the
batteries and the alternator may be damaged. To protect your LiFePO4 battery and alternator, You can use this Victron Energy 30A DC to DC charger to safely and effectively charge your batteries using your alternator.
This 12V 30A DC to DC charger works on all Canbat 12V Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) with a capacity of at least 60Ah. It works on both Canbat’s regular and low-temperature (LT) lithium series. This includes the 60Ah, 75Ah, 100Ah, 100Ah LT, 150Ah, 150Ah LT, 200Ah, 200Ah LT, 300Ah and the 300Ah LT.
Bluetooth Smart enabled
Any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or another device can be used to monitor, change settings, and update the charger when new software features become available.
Fully programmable
– Battery charge algorithm (configurable) or fixed output.
– Smart alternator compatibility: engine running detection mechanism.
Adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm: bulk – absorption – float
- For lead-acid batteries, it is important that during shallow discharges the absorption time is kept short in order to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to make sure that the battery is completely recharged.
- For lithium batteries, absorption time is fixed by default to 2 hours.
- Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be chosen.
Remote on-off
A remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected to a two-pole connector. Alternatively, the H terminal (right) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery plus, or the L terminal (left) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery minus (or the chassis of a vehicle, for example).
All models are short circuit proof and can be paralleled to increase output current
An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel.
High temperature protected
The output current will reduce at high ambient temperature.
IP43 protection
When installed with the screw terminals oriented downwards.

The Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated 30A DC-DC charger is amazing, fully programmable, 3-stage charge algorithm, IP43 protection, and it even has buletooth smart in it. I set it up with my other Victron equipments and lead acid batteries, so far it’s working really great. Victron Energy do really make some high quality products.

Love the fact you can connect an unlimited amount of Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated 30A DC-DC charger in parallel. I got 5 of them from Canbat Technologies Inc and so far it hasn’t let me down yet. it is a little expensive but it’s worth the extra few dollars.

Very easy to install, the charging does it’s job fantastically well. I had a bit of a problem with it’s smart bluetooth system, for some reason I couldn’t connect it to iPhone, but I figured out that it needed an firmware software update; did that, and it miraculously worked just fine. Would have been nice if it already came in updated already but I guess it’s not that of a big deal. This by far the best Victron Energy product I have ever gotten my hands on.

This is great, I bought the Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated 30A DC-DC charger for my lithium ion batteries and it works absolutely amazing. I got this so that I can safely charge my lithium ion batteries without damaging it’s BMS or the Alternator. If you have spent a fortune on (LIFEPO₄) batteries, I strongly suggest that you get this. The battery charge Algorithm is fully configurable, and it’s all short circuit proof.

I am very pleased with this Victron Energy product. The Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated 30A DC-DC charger is an adaptive 3-stage charger that has built in Bluetooth, this is the best product out there you can find for protecting your battery’s BMS or regulating the voltage. Love it!!

If you don’t want your lithium batteries to have long term damage while charging, then I suggest that you get a Victron Energy DC-DC charger. Sometimes there are cases of poor voltage regulator which causes the BMS disconnect, and when that happens; the battery and alternator might get damage. I bought the Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated 30A DC-DC charger and so far it’s working really amazing. Gotta hand it to Victron Energy, they know how make an electronic product.
