Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A (360W) Isolated 30A DC-DC charger
Low-quality alternators with poor voltage regulation can cause the BMS to disconnect on LiFePO4 batteries. If the BMS disconnects, the
batteries and the alternator may be damaged. To protect your LiFePO4 battery and alternator, You can use this Victron Energy 30A DC to DC charger to safely and effectively charge your batteries using your alternator.
This 12V 30A DC to DC charger works on all Canbat 12V Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) with a capacity of at least 60Ah. It works on both Canbat’s regular and low-temperature (LT) lithium series. This includes the 60Ah, 75Ah, 100Ah, 100Ah LT, 150Ah, 150Ah LT, 200Ah, 200Ah LT, 300Ah and the 300Ah LT.
Bluetooth Smart enabled
Any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or another device can be used to monitor, change settings, and update the charger when new software features become available.
Fully programmable
– Battery charge algorithm (configurable) or fixed output.
– Smart alternator compatibility: engine running detection mechanism.
Adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm: bulk – absorption – float
- For lead-acid batteries, it is important that during shallow discharges the absorption time is kept short in order to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to make sure that the battery is completely recharged.
- For lithium batteries, absorption time is fixed by default to 2 hours.
- Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be chosen.
Suitable for use in vehicles with a smart alternator (Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines)
The built-in engine shutdown detection will stop the converter when the engine is not running.
This prevents unwanted discharge of the starter battery.
Remote on-off
A remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected to a two-pole connector. Alternatively, the H terminal (right) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery plus, or the L terminal (left) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery minus (or the chassis of a vehicle, for example).
All models are short circuit proof and can be paralleled to increase output current
An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel.
High temperature protected
The output current will reduce at high ambient temperature.

When installed with the screw terminals oriented downwards.

Works great. Very easy to install. The Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger is a necessity for every Victron users out there. This can help regulate voltage while charging your batteries and protect the BMS. it has 3-stage charge algorithm which are bulk, absorption, and float. Perfect for charging your lead acid batteries and lithium batteries.

Love the fact the Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger has built in Bluetooth which makes it more accessible than ever. Very easy to install and configure. Victron Energy really do make high quality products. It is a little pricey, gotta admit that. But I would say that it’s worth the extra dollar you are paying for, you get a very nice, well built product which can last for years.

Its not everyday where you can find a DC-DC charger that can handle high current. I bought a couple of the Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger and this is the best there is to protect your batteries while connected to charging system. It comes with built in Bluetooth which works really well, making the access point very easy. Much better than all the other alternatives out there; this is the best of the best.

The Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger has a very good performance, one could say that it’s the best there is out there. It has three stage charging algorithm, built in Bluetooth system, and very well built. So far it’s been working really good for me and its protecting my batteries by keeping a good voltage regulation. I highly recommend getting this.

This is pretty good, Victron really outdid it themselves once again. The Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger is a must have for every Victron Energy users out there, it’s fully programmable, can also be used for vehicles with smart alternator. I used it for mine and it works perfectly okay, the battery charge algorithm can be configured, it has smart alternator capability which is amazing. This product is the best!!

Well I gotta admit, I was a bit skeptical about getting myself a Orion-Tr Smart 30A DC-DC charger cause I had very experience with DC-DC chargers in past; but this which is Victron made blew me away. It works as it was intended to, only problem I had with it was the firmware software update, took me a while to figure it out which was kinda annoying but overall I would say that this works best than all other DC-DC chargers out there. Glad I went with this choice.
